Different Types Of Writing And Presenting - 870 Words
Professor Liberato Silva dos Santos, During this semester, I learned about the different types of writing and presenting. This is known as the WOVE communication. WOVE is an acronym for these types of communication: Written, Oral, Visual, and Electronic. Each type of communication has its pros and cons, but if you are able combine more than one type together, you end up communicating to your audience better than with only one type of communication. Ever since being in this class, I have learned what my preferred type of communication, my weakest type of communicating, how to combine and improve my communication to make my presentation more affective and learn when to ask for help when trying to make my work to its full potential. My strongest type of communication would have to be oral and visual communication. I believe that these are both types of communication that come to me more naturally than some of the others. The reason why I say that is because oral and visual communication is my preferred type of presenting and Iââ¬â¢m the most comfortable with these due to the fact that I am able to express myself more effectively in these types of communication. For example, when presenting my visual rhetorical analysis, I was able to express myself more since I had background information about the picture and was able to discuss why my claim was important for the audience to hear. With plenty of practice going through my presentation, I was able to make my voice heard andShow MoreRelatedRobert Greenleaf And James Hunter976 Words à |à 4 Pages1998). The Existential Theme of Londonââ¬â¢s To Build A Fire Essay
The Existential Theme of Londonââ¬â¢s ââ¬Å"To Build A Fire Jack Londonââ¬â¢s short story, ââ¬Å"To Build a Fire,â⬠is the tragic tale of a man who decides to travel alone through the hostile environment of the Yukon in sub-freeing temperatures and falls victim to the unrelenting and unforgiving power of nature. During his journey, the man gets his feet wet as he falls through the ice into the water of a hot spring (London 122). Because of the severity of the cold, some ââ¬Å"one hundred and seven degrees below [the] freezing point,â⬠the manââ¬â¢s life depends upon his ability to promptly light a fire to keep his feet from freezing (122-23). After one, half-successful fire-starting endeavor, and several other pitiful attempts, the hopelessness ofâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦At the conclusion of the story we finally see the man come to the realization, in a round about way, that it was best to meet his fate with dignity, thus giving meaning to an otherwise meaningless and cruel death. This existential theme in ââ¬Å"To Bu ild a Fireâ⬠is not likely to be a mere coincidence, but instead appears to be part of Londonââ¬â¢s intentional design. According to Charles Child Walcutt, Jack London was greatly influenced by the ideas of such men as Charles Darwin, Herbert Spencer, and Friedrich Nietzsche, all prominent thinkers of Londonââ¬â¢s time (5). So it is no accident that at the heart of the story lies an existentialist theme. London emphasizes the existential theme in ââ¬Å"To Build a Fireâ⬠in several ways, the most important of which is his selection of the setting in which the story takes place. The story is set in the wilderness of the frozen Yukon during the harsh winter months when ââ¬Å"there was no sun nor hint of sunâ⬠in the sky (118). London places his solitary human character in the perilous setting of the wilderness of the Yukon, which is enough to begin to illustrate his theme, but when London combines this unforgiving environment with the deadly cold of the Yukon winter, he creates aShow MoreRelatedA Comparison of Jack London and Stephen Crane.1481 Words à |à 6 Pagesconsidered naturalist authors who presented elements of naturalism in many of their literary works, but most predominantly in their two short stories, ââ¬Å"To Build a Fireâ⬠and ââ¬Å"The Open Boatâ⬠When London wrote To Build a Fire he embraced the idea of naturalism because it mirrored the events of daily life. Improve Family Communication and Cooperation â⬠MyAssignmenthelp.com
Question: Discuss about the Improve Family Communication and Cooperation. Answer: Introduction: Preceding research has discovered that 1/2 of all lifetime mental health problems emerge by way of age 15 and 3 quarters with the aid of age 24. Mental illness contributes to 50% of the worldwide burden of disorder amongst the ones elderly 9 to 25 years. Intellectual fitness issues have been proven to have extensive unfavorable outcomes on wellbeing, functioning and improvement in early life, and are associated with impaired instructional fulfillment, unemployment, terrible social functioning, and substance abuse. Those negative outcomes may additionally expand nicely beyond early life, growing an ongoing cycle of dysfunction and disadvantage. Mental health disorders additionally placed people at extra threat of trying and/or completing suicide, with suicide the leading motive of loss of life for younger Australians aged sixteen-26 years. Statistics show that one in four younger Australians elderly 17 to 30 lives with a intellectual infection and one in 3 studies slight to excessive ranges of psychological misery, (Bandura 2009) The most noteworthy facts launched lately, the record on the second one. Australian child and Adolescent Survey of intellectual fitness and wellbeing, located 24.3% of teens elderly 11-18 years experienced an intellectual sickness in the previous 365 days, and of those 23.1% had an extreme sickness. The equal file observed that round one in thirteen eleven-18 yr. olds had seriously taken into consideration attempting suicide inside the previous 6 months, with extensively better quotes among younger humans with fundamental depressive disorder (39.6% primarily based on self-record, 25.7% based totally on parent or career record). Given the sickness burden and prevalence charges, it is essential that powerful intellectual fitness interventions management and offerings are available to younger people. Regrettably, at the same time as records shows there may be a few improvement in help-in search of behaviors, there stay issues with uptake. In 2006, less than one in four 15-26 year old Au stralians recognized with a mental fitness disorder accessed health offerings within the preceding 12 months, with low rates of carrier use most stated among young men, (Gossard 2008). More currently, records points to a huge boom in carrier use, with almost thirds of younger human beings elderly 12-17 years with a intellectual fitness ailment gaining access to services (including fitness, school, smartphone counseling and on line offerings) for emotional and behavioral issues. The proof keeps to spotlight the need to make teenagers mental fitness a concern, demonstrating high prevalence and a giant disease burden in the course of a length in which there is exceptional capability to offer prevention and early intervention services and aid to improve the mental fitness and wellness, and certainly the future, of younger human beings as they transition to their adult lives. It isn't always sudden that young humans with a possible severe mental infection are greater concerned about melancholy, handling pressure, and frame photograph. Those problems are associated with psychological distress and intellectual illness. As cited, tension and despair are the two mental ailm ents, which can be maximum strongly related, (Sochrider 2009). What we do no longer understand is that if younger human beings with a likely critical intellectual contamination are more exposed to those issues, inflicting them misery, or if their heightened levels of psychological misery reason them to worry more about these problems. Certainly, it can move each approaches. Worries and dissatisfaction with frame image top around youth as young peoples our bodies trade. higher frame dissatisfaction is related to more mental distress. However, reviews fluctuate on whether or not frame dissatisfaction causes psychological distress, or whether or not mental distress reasons young people to be less happy with their frame. Similarly, we do now not recognize if young humans with a probable extreme intellectual contamination are extra-involved approximately handling stress due to the fact their coping strategies are much less powerful, or due to the fact, they may be facing greater worrying conditions than other younger humans. Younger peoples capacity to cope with strain is thought to effect on their level of psychological distress. Typically, lively coping strategies including hassle solving and looking for help, whilst a success, are related to decrease degrees of misery, whilst withdrawal is associated with better levels of distress. However, this also relies upon on the state of affairs inflicting the stress. Young individuals who face situations which can be outside their manipulate, inclusive of parental war, are probable to be more distressed if they try to adopt active strategies. Handling stress, college or observe issues, body picture, and depression have been the pinnacle 4 problems of concern for young human beings with a probable extreme intellectual infection in all 3 years. while there was little alternate in issues about managing stress and frame image, the share of younger people with a possible serious mental illness who document being very or extremely concerned about faculty or have a look at troubles has multiplied (from 48.3% in 2013 to 50.6% in 2015). This turned into the most effective subject matter those young humans confirmed an increase in difficulty for 12 months on year. Furthermore, young humans without a probable severe mental illness did not display an increase in issues approximately college or have a look at problems. the percentage of younger human beings with and without a possible severe mental infection who have been very or extremely involved approximately despair, own family battle, suicide, non-public protection, and discrimination decreased over the three years. There is clear confirmation of viability of mediations to set up wellbeing defensive or wellbeing upgrading practices, for example, abstain from food and physical movement; to lessen wellbeing hazard practices, for example, smoking; and to encourage adjustment to unending sickness, including growth and coronary illness. However, the behavior changes as often as possible are hard to keep up, which represents a critical test to the ground. The constrained support of social alteration found in beginning mediation endeavors might be because of the inability to consider the logical variables that permit backslide. Advances will require the down to earth utilization of new investigation on the part of causative relevant elements that incorporate interpersonal, relational, ecological, and worldly factors. A moment test is viable interpretation of trials to certifiable sceneries, (Bandura, 2011). Speculation of viable intercessions would entail an extension of the appraisal of mediation resu lts conveyed in assorted situations. Comprehensive group and association intercessions have demonstrated differed achievement. The discoveries are damaged by poor outlines and techniques. Overall, the mediations that were all more comprehensively based and multifaceted will probably be successful. These difficulties are not limited to progresses in singular behavior alteration. So long as parts would reflect, comparable difficulties, this would apply to all stages of mediations. References Abrams DB, Emmons KM, Linnan L, Biener L. Qin Shi Huang Di free essay sample
Of all the emperors in Chinese history, Qin Shi Huangdi, the self-proclaimed ââ¬Å"First Emperorâ⬠, is probably known as the most ruthless and cold-blooded monarch. Under his rule, thousands of war innocents and intellectuals perished because they were ââ¬Å"threatsâ⬠to his control. However, despite his numerous wicked deeds, during the eleven years he ruled (221 BCE- 210 BCE), he also created the most unified state of China for many centuries to come. A bit of background: When Qin Shi Huangdi first came into power in 221 BCE, China was in the state of political chaos and decay. The Era of Warring States had barely just passed, and with it, the decline and destruction of the Zhou dynasty. From its ashes, Qin Shi Huang built a brutal government, with himself as the sole leader, and got rid of all regional aristocrats to increase his influence. Thus, the Qin Dynasty was born. He ordered for virtually all books from previous dynasties to be burned and even banned erudite discussions about the past. His actions apparently stemmed from the thinking that all thoughts had to be under his dictatorial control. Qin Shi Huangdi was also extremely cruel toward the civilians, killing them without batting an eye if they blocked his pathway to complete authority. He was known to create and administer the worst torture practices in history onto those who were only just slightly suspected of disloyalty.â⬠¦but a very influential one as well. Despite his harsh control, Qin Shi Huangdi was indeed a very effective and efficient ruler. During his short reign, he managed to standardize weights, measures, and coins (first time in China) that made trade and business much less complicated, and collect a national census in order to calculate how much tax he could collect, which set a precedent for future societies. A uniform writing language was created so the people could communicate moreà easily, and well-organized irrigation systems were put into place. Furthermore, he promoted the manufacturing of silk, a major item of the Silk Road trade. However, his greatest contribution to the world was his idea for the development of the Great Wall (that eventually extended 3000 miles) that was originally meant to prevent outside invasions. Conclusion: Though Qin Shi Huangdi had a merciless personality, he eventually impacted his people and country more positively than negatively. On the surface, his reign was covered in ghastly flaws, but underneath, it was full of great ideas that made life not only much simpler for his people, but for his descendants and the rest of the world.
